June Favourites

June had come to an end, and thankfully so has school and exams. I am so pleased that my exams are finally over after what feels like forever, and I now have some free time to post more regularly! I hope to spend a lot more time on here sharing recipes and general posts with you. I have got some exciting things coming up with a trip to Newcastle this weekend (so I should be making an Exploring England post to share with you about that), and I have a work experience placement in London next week (4th-8th of June) on the Waitrose Food magazine, which as I am interested in working for a food magazine in the future is really exciting and i’m sure will be a very useful experience. In terms of new discoveries and my favourite things this month, I have discovered a new magazine which I love (no surprise there!) along with some lifestyle favourites including cruelty free skincare products which I love and hope you will be interested in too.  Continue reading

Vegetarian Pizza with Unearthed Sabrina’s Mixed Olives with Artichokes & Feta

I recently discovered Unearthed’s new product ‘Sabrina’s Mixed Olives With Artichokes & Feta’ and couldn’t wait to try it as it is flavoured with lemon zest and oregano, which sounds like the perfect summer combination, and I am always looking for new vegetarian products to try. But it was only when I looked a bit closer that I realised that 10p from every pack is donated to the incredible charity ‘Action Against Hunger’ which helps over 13 million people every year suffering from malnutrition who are without clean water or sanitation- so it is hard to think of a reason not to buy it!

May Favourites

May is the beginning of the exam season for most people at school, college or university. Hopefully you will understand my lack of posts recently, all I can say is that I would much rather be coming up with new recipes than revising but unfortunately at this time of year I need to focus on my exams- but Summer is on its way, along with a year partly dedicated to improving my blog, which means regular posts! This month as well as preparing for my exams I have found time to discover some new things that I love and have been looking forward to sharing with you. Continue reading

April Favourites

I can’t believe I am writing this on the last day of April, this year is going so quickly! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to post very much recently, simply because it is such a busy time of year with school work. In less than a month my exams will begin, which has come around so quickly (too quickly!) but I cannot wait until I have finished my exams and Summer arrives. But until then it’s good to focus on Spring. I have discovered so many lovely things this month that I can’t wait to share with you: Continue reading

March Favourites

Spring is my favourite time of year, with the promise of new beginnings, freshly cut flowers and plenty of Easter baking, there is so much to look forward to at this time of year (apart from exams of course)! This month I have really been enjoying the beginning of Spring and everything that comes along with it, whilst discovering a lot of new things that I couldn’t wait to share with you.

Happy Easter!

I love Easter, everything is rabbit themed, and the fruity smell of freshly baked hot cross buns fills the kitchen. Easter lets us all know that the long hoped for spring has sprung, and the Easter baking can begin! I hope you had a really lovely Easter, and found time to do some seasonal baking. If you didn’t get chance to do any baking don’t worry, the two recipes that I am sharing with you today are the perfect way to use your Easter chocolate!

Mother’s Day Sultana Scones

I hope you all had a lovely Mother’s day and found time to thank your Mum, Grandma, or whoever else acts like a Mum in your life. I spent the day with my Mum and Grandma and decided to make afternoon tea for them, complete with freshly made sultana scones with raspberry jam and Cornish clotted cream. I also baked some of the Iced Biscuits that I shared with you a couple of weeks ago, and my lemon drizzle loaves which, as you know, are a firm favourite in our house.

Unearthed Blogger Scholarship 2016

I recently entered the Unearthed Bloggers Scholarship programme by making my Exploring England: Olive, Rosemary, and Cornish Sea Salt Focaccia post last month. I didn’t ever expect to be one of the winners, but I received an email last Saturday informing me that I am exactly that! I am so pleased and grateful to have been given the opportunity and cannot wait to let you know more about it, along with sharing recipes made using their incredible products, and attending events that I have before only ever dreamed of being invited to. I will be sharing everything with you on here, including sharing recipes, taking photos, and letting you know about any of the events that I get the chance to attend.

Chocolate Bear Biscuits

I recently found a bear biscuit cutter and have been desperate ever since to make a snow scene cake complete with biscuit bears and trees, so although I haven’t had the time or the occasion to make one yet, I decided to make some chocolate bear biscuits. I rarely make chocolate biscuits but I’m not sure why, these are so flavoursome, fun, and simple to make for any occasion, and as they are firm biscuits they are the perfect base for icing. They are a lovely thing to make for mothers day as they can be made in advance and the dough can be kept in the fridge for a week (or in the freezer for a few weeks) before baking, and once baked they store well in an airtight container for up to a week. This is now my go-to chocolate biscuit recipe, I hope you enjoy making it too!
